Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has dismissed reports claiming he has contacted Blackburn Rovers over their vacant managerial position. The former Manchester United striker, who is now the manager of Norwegian champions Molde, has been linked with the Championship outfit following Steve Kean's resignation.

The 39-year-old, who was also targeted by Aston Villa in the summer before the Midlands club appointed Paul Lambert, insists that any reports linking him with the role at Ewood Park are purely speculation.

"We have gone up this path before and it is only speculation. It will happen when it happens, that I have to pick up the phone to (Molde owner) Kjell Inge Rokke regarding a job offer, but I have not spoken to Blackburn as yet," Solskjaer told reporters.

"I cannot say any more about Blackburn now. It speaks for itself that you don't have anything else to write about other than this."

Eric Black is in caretaker charge of Blackburn following Kean's resignation, made after the Scot stated that his position at Ewood Park had become 'untenable'.

Blackburn are seventh in the Championship with 15 points from eight games.
