Bio

Stevan Jovetić was born in Titograd, SFR Yugoslavia on 2 November 1989. A Montenegro international, he operates primarily as an attacking midfielder or second striker, but is also able to play as a winger. Known for his creative talents, technical ability and dribbling, his style of play has sometimes been compared to that of Italian legend, Roberto Baggio.

Jovetić began his career as a youth team player on the books at Mladost Podgorica, but moved to FK Partizan's academy in 2003. Three years later, at the age of just 16, he made his senior debut for the side against Voždovac. Over the course of the next few seasons, Jovetić made rapid progress, scoring his first hattrick in a UEFA Cup tie with Zrinjski in 2007, while he was still just 17 years old. In January 2008, at the age of 18, he was appointed as Partizan's captain, making him the youngest skipper in the club's history. The 2007-08 season brought with it enormous success, as the team won both the Serbian SuperLiga and the Serbian Cup, with Jovetić contributing 19 goals in all competitions.

Throughout his time at Partizan, Jovetić became linked with moves to a number of major European clubs, including Real Madrid and Manchester United. However, during the summer transfer window of 2008, he completed a move to Italian side Fiorentina. Over the course of five seasons with the club, he scored a total of 40 goals and enhanced his reputation as one of the continent's top prospects. Despite missing the entire 2010-11 season through injury, he managed to find excellent form upon his return, scoring 14 league goals in 2011–12 and 13 league goals the following year.

Prior to the beginning of the 2013-14 season, Jovetić moved to England to join Manchester City in a £22 million deal. In September 2013, he appeared on the scoresheet for the first time during a League Cup win over Wigan and in early 2014, Manchester City went on to win the competition.

On the international stage, Jovetić was part of Montenegro's first ever squad as an independent country in 2007 and scored his first two goals for the national team against Hungary in their first competitive match. Since that time, he has established himself as a regular in the team and is widely considered to be one of Montenegro's star players.
