Stramaccioni credits players for positive results

Andrea Stramaccioni dedicated Inter's 2-0 victory over Catania on Sunday to his entire squad.

Antonio Cassano opened the scoring for a much-changed Nerazzurri, before Rodrigo Palacio secured the three points in the 85th minute with a superb strike to lift Inter within a point of second-placed Napoli on the Serie A table.

Stramaccioni said the result was simply down to his players putting in the hard work on the training track.

"I am happy with the defensive solidity shown by the side, and our hard work is evident in the recent run of results," he said.

"Antonio Cassano certainly played an important part in the win, but I think it is fair to say that this win represents all the players."

It was a fourth consecutive victory in Serie A for Inter and Stramaccioni explained his team selection and why he had changed the shape of a winning side.

"We wanted to send a signal that Inter could win this game playing in a very attacking style, with three strikers and a muscular midfield," he said.

"I put (Joel) Obi on the left to control (Alejandro) Gomez, as I noticed that he tends to suffer when faced with left-footed players who can stop him more easily as he tries to cut in on his stronger foot."

Obi reiterated his coach's views after the match.

"The coach gave me an important task. It's a good thing that it all went well, thanks in part to my team-mates too," he told Inter's official website.

Meanwhile, Andrea Ranocchia joined his boss in claiming that it was a team victory.

"We worked hard, even those who had International duty during the week. We were feeling good both physically and mentally and we showed it," he said.
