Telkom Knockout preview: Chiefs aim to down stars
Kaizer Chiefs welcome Platinum Stars this coming Saturday night in the Telkom Knockout semi-final at the FNB Stadium.
The Glamour Boys have already got the better of Platinum Stars this season after beating high riding side 2-1 in a league match in September at the same venue where they will be contesting on Saturday night. Dikwena on the other side are well aware that a win on the night will put them on the brink of winning a second cup on the trot after lifting the MTN8 Cup two months ago.
Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper and skipper Itumeleng Khune says his side are aware that Platinum Stars are a dangerous side but they cannot afford to lose a match before the final.
“Playing Platinum Stars this weekend will be massive. They have proven to be one of the toughest teams in the league at the moment.” He told his club official website on Wednesday morning before training session
“We cannot afford to be complacent in the semis. We cannot go into the match and think it will be a walk in the park. This is the same team that always gives us problems especially last season.”
The South African sports star of the year added that beating Platinum Stars early this season is now history as on Saturday night it will be a different ball game. “This season we have already beaten them but that is history now.” Added the highly-rated shot-stopper.
“Saturday will be completely different match. We have Bernard Parker and Siphiwe Tshabalala back in the team and we are looking forward to the match on Saturday with all our teammates confident ahead of the match.”
South Africa international winger Siphiwe Tshabalala added. “This is going to be a big game for us. We are preparing for them (Platinum Stars) and we are eager to play well against them. This is a final before the final and we are not going to make any mistakes.”
