Galatasaray coach Fatih Terim is confident his team will get past Schalke in the Champions League round-of-16 second leg on Tuesday.

Bundesliga outfit Schalke held Galatasaray to a 1-1 draw in the first leg at the Turk Telekom Arena last month.

But despite their opponents boasting a potentially crucial away goal, Terim is nevertheless confident his team will progress to the quarter-finals.

"Since the first game, the 1-1 draw in Istanbul, Schalke have improved considerably and become a much better team," he said.

"We know we are up against a strong opponent but I am confident we will win tomorrow. I trust my team. Sneijder will play tomorrow."

Striker Burak Yilmaz echoed his coach's sentiments, and said he is relishing the prospect of advancing in the tournament.

"We are proud to be here," he said.

"Both myself and my team-mates believe we can go a long way in this competition.

"We are a club who have written history in Europe and I hope we can do ourselves proud tomorrow and win."
