About UE Santa Coloma

Unió Esportiva Santa Coloma, often known as UE Santa Coloma, was created in 1986 in the village of Santa Coloma. The club's nickname is 'Esquirols', which translates to the Squirrels, and the club's crest features an image of the animal, along with the colours of the Andorran flag. The team have slowly risen to prominence within Andorra and have emerged as a genuine contender for the major silverware on offer in the country in recent years.

Historically, UE Santa Coloma's main rivals have been the other club from the local area, FC Santa Coloma and the matches between the two teams have become known as El Derbi Colomenc. While matches between the two have been fiercely contested for many years, the rivalry has become even more intense in recent times, especially since both teams were direct competitors for the Primera Divisió title in the 2009-10 season.

The club gained promotion to the top tier of the Andorran league system after winning the Segona Divisió in 2007–08; remaining unbeaten for the duration of the season. Their performance in the 2009-10 campaign remains UE Santa Coloma's best ever performance in the Primera Divisió, as they eventually finished the season in 2nd place, narrowly missing out on their first ever top-flight league title. In the same year, they were also runners up in the Copa Constitució. The disappointment of missing out on both trophies served to further inspire the club and in 2012–13, they won their first major honour, the Copa Constitució. Their impressive performances in recent years have also given UE Santa Coloma the chance to compete at continental level for the first time, with the side making their debut in the UEFA Europa League in 2010–11.

Due to the size of the Andorran league, all of the top tier clubs play their home matches in the same stadiums; either the 1,000-seater DEVK-Arena, or the Estadi Comunal d'Andorra la Vella.
