United interest in Fabregas 'ongoing'

Manchester United manager David Moyes is refusing to accept defeat in his pursuit of Barcelona midfielder Cesc Fabregas.

The Premier League champions are keen to lure the 26-year-old former Arsenal player back to England after two seasons at the Camp Nou.

Moyes confirmed on Monday that United had tabled a second bid for the Spain international, and he insists that a potential deal is still a possibility.

"Things are ongoing," said Moyes when quizzed on Fabregas during a press conference on the club’s pre-season tour of Asia.

A number of Fabregas’ team-mates, including former United defender Gerard Pique, have publicly played down the chances of him leaving the Spanish champions over the last few days.

"United are wasting their time," warned Pique on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Alex Song, who played alongside Fabregas at Arsenal, joined Pique in trying to quash the speculation, as he told Sky Sports: "He's from Barcelona, he loves Barcelona and he'll want to start the season to show what he can do.

"It's my own opinion but I know he will stay here, 100 per cent."
