Whitecaps Lose First Game; Dynamo Extends Home Winning-Streak
By Anoop Kathrani
On Saturday, the Houston Dynamo delivered the Vancouver Whitecaps their first loss of the season at a score of 2-1. The Whitecaps scored the first goal in the 36th minute when Darren Mattocks ran past the defense and delivered a 20 yard kick. This would be one of the five scoring attempts that was not blocked by goalie Tally Hall. Houston woke up in the second half scoring the next two goals. The tying goal came from a Giles Barnes head shot, which was assisted by Ricardo Clark. Less than ten minutes later, Warren Creavalle scored the go-ahead goal, and the eventual game winner, for the men in orange.
Houston continues their home winning streak and increased it to 27 straight home wins. This streak extends from the 2011 season which means that Houston has never lost in BBVA Compass Stadium.
