9. 4. OLB Clay Matthews, Green Bay Packers
Clay Matthews is a marketer's dream. He is young (27), plays on a winning team that is nationally recognized, is talented and is extremely charismatic. Matthews already has one of the most popular brands in the NFL, has the 13th best-selling jersey and recently inked a five-year, $66 million deal with roughly $31 million in guarantees.
Matthews is sponsored by the likes of Gillette, Nike, Muscle Milk, Verizon and Fathead. As Forbes points out, Matthews is making it a priority to earn income well after his playing career ends. When his current deal expires, Matthews will only be 32, and can get one last nice contract if he is still playing at an elite level. He's doing everything in his power to push his brand, and will almost certainly be one of the largest revenue-generating players in the NFL for the foreseeable future.
