3. No. 8(t): Jason Witten
Look! A tight end! 2012 was a banner season for Witten as he racked up the second highest yardage total (1,039) of his 10-year NFL career. Witten has long been Tony Romo’s security blanket and this was never more evident than last season, when Witten caught 110 passes on 148 targets, for a whopping 74 percent catch rate. Witten’s stellar catch rate indicates that he won’t be surpassing any top tier wide receivers in yardage, but his value in PPR leagues is sky high.
2013 should be yet another solid season from this Cowboy, who is a tremendous option at tight end. After Jimmy Graham is selected, fantasy owners will be hard pressed to find a more reliable tight end to lead a fantasy squad to voctory. Dallas’ receiving options remain the same, as Dez Bryant and Miles Austin will man the top two receiver slots while Witten roams the middle of the field and excels in the red zone. A repeat of 110 receptions (14 more than his previous career high) may be a bit much to ask, but 95 catches and his fifth career 1,000-plus yard season should be a lock.
