49ers Unlikely To Make A Trade By The Deadline
The San Francisco 49ers have been linked in numerous trade rumors, but it appears that they’re unlikely to make a deal with the trade deadline fast approaching. While they’ve been linked to Cleveland Browns WR Josh Gordon, that deal doesn’t appear to be in the cards for the 49ers.
49ers GM Trent Baalke suggested to reporters that they aren’t going to make a trade, and one of the major reasons for that is the return of Mario Manningham and Michael Crabtree.
“It plays a big role and what you can do and what you’re willing to do from a roster standpoint,” he said. “Because those are two pretty good football players.”
Manningham is set to return any week now, and Michael Crabtree in due back in about a month. The team is likely hoping that one or both players will be able to significantly bolster their passing attack.
Colin Kaepernick has struggled at times this season, but having his full complement of receivers in the lineup should make a noticeable difference. Anquan Boldin and Vernon Davis have been inconsistent this season, but they’ve had some monstrous performances in the first half of the season.
“You never know what tomorrow brings with respect to personnel and your roster,” Baalke said. “You’re always looking.”
