5 Characteristics of an Awesome Soccer Teammate
Teammates become best friends and people you need to rely on heavily to be successful.
Over the years I’ve found that the best teammates have at least a few or all of these five characteristics.
You want teammates who have your back no matter what. They are consistently making great plays on the field and they help you when you need it off the field.
You can count on them to get the job done even in pressure-packed situations. Dependability is extremely important in being a great teammate.
Honest teammates tell it like it is. They won’t lie to you if they think you’re not playing as well as you could be, as they’re just trying to help you become a better player.
By being honest about the team's strengths and weaknesses, this type of teammate helps everyone.
These teammates are kind of like the team mom. They always know the schedule and when and where you have to be, where it's games, practices, or individual training.
Responsible teammates hold you accountable for your actions but try to help any way they can, on and off the field.
You want teammates who are confident in their abilities, your abilities, and the team’s abilities.
When everyone knows they can achieve what they set their minds to and work towards a common goal, it’s more likely you’re going to reach it.
Confidence plays a huge role in helping teams become successful, as players have to believe in each other to get to where they want to be.
This may not seem important but it is.
When the team is having a tough go of it during the season you need that comic relief teammate that can lighten the mood and make everybody laugh. Sometimes you need to be reminded that you don’t have to take everything so seriously.
Oftentimes teams have a lot of players with various personalities. A team likely wouldn’t be successful if each player was an individual star.
In order to achieve good team chemistry, you need to have players who are different but bring out the best in one another, on and off the field. The best teams work on their chemistry with team bonding activities to strengthen the relationships and build trust with one another.
