For another year, the Premier League has drawn to its conclusion, and entered the summer hiatus. Whilst the passionate football fan will lament their weekly dose of competition and excitement over the next few months, this article instead will fondly celebrate the best moments of the 2014/15 campaign. And there were plenty of moments to select from in an exciting season, filled with shock results, stunning goals and bizarre occurrences that defied all logic.
Of course, some teams enjoyed better moments than others over the course of the past nine months. Chelsea in particular had a season to remember, climbing to the summit of the league for the fourth time, as Jose Mourinho overcame a supposed “campaign” against the club to become a champion again. Alongside the Blues exceptional campaigns were also had by Swansea, Stoke City and Crystal Palace, and a terrific end of the season for Leicester City securing their survival.
But, in a year riddled with inconsistency among the majority of squads, many did not experience a great deal of positive moments. Manchester City, Liverpool and Everton could not reach expectations at the top end of the table, and Newcastle United were extremely fortunate not to fall through the trap door of relegation. Instead, that miserable fate befell Hull City, Burnley and QPR.
Through all the ups and downs for your respective club in the top flight, the past season will live long in the memory for some of the historical moments of magic and madness that underlined it. So, here are the six key moments that summed up this most recent campaign, and will be recalled whenever anyone considers the 2014/15 season for years to come.
