A.C. Leonard Blows Away Scouts With 40 Time
By Allen Kim
A.C. Leonard's draft stock just skyrocketed after running the 40 at the NFL Scouting Combine. The Tennessee State Tigers tight end ran a 4.43 40 time, and he was the fastest tight end to test at the combine.
Considering the fact that Leonard is 6-2, 252 pounds makes the feat all the more impressive. He certainly turned some heads with his speed, and you can expect him to be one of the top tight ends selected in April. He’s considered to be a bit raw, but if he can reach his potential and develop at the pro level, he could be a very dangerous offensive weapon.
Leonard started his college career with the Florida Gators, but he transferred to Tennessee State after one season to finish out his career. He played fairly well while with the Tigers, recording 51 receptions for 733 yards and six touchdowns in his first year and 34 receptions for 441 yards and five touchdowns in the second. He finished his college career with 93 receptions for 1,273 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns.
However, teams are likely wary of character concerns after he pleaded no contest to a battery count while at Florida. His girlfriend at the time told police that he shoved her to the ground and dragged her through an apartment by her hair.
