Adam "Pacman" Jones Arrested
Cincinnati Bengals cornerback Adam “Pacman” Jones announced Monday morning via Twitter that he had been arrested.
"Just got arrested for protecting myself, I will not let this break me or change what I have work so hard for ..." Jones said in a tweet.
Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Jones was taken into custody and charged with assault after allegedly slapping a woman outside of a Cincinnati bar on Wednesday.
According to reports, two women approached Jones outside of the bar and requested to take a picture with him. After Jones delcined, he was hit in the head with a beer bottle. Jones then slapped one of the women.
Jones has been slowed the last few weeks by a calf injury he suffered on the first day of OTA’s. Minicamp is set to begin Tuesday in Cincinnati.
The Bengals refused to comment to the Cincinnati Enquirer stating that the incident is a “pending legal issue.”
Jones, who will be entering his second season of a three-year, $5.35 million deal with the Bengals, has now been involved in three off-field incidents since originally signing with the Bengals in 2010. Prior to Wednesday, his most recent scrape with police took place back in July 2011, when he was apprehended for disorderly conduct while intoxicated and resisting arrest.
He eventually pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct. He was sentenced to one year of probation, 50 hours of community service, and a $250 fine.
