Adrian Peterson's Son Passes Away After Assault
Tragedy struck the NFL today. Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson’s two-year-old son passed away after being severely beaten by the boyfriend of the child’s mother, Joseph Patterson.
There were reports earlier that Peterson went to Sioux Falls, South Dakota earlier today to tend to a personal matter, and it was later revealed that his son was taken to the hospital in critical condition after he beaten. There was hope that his son’s condition had improved after he returned to Minnesota, but things took a turn for the worse.
Peterson wrote on Twitter: "Thank you to my family, my fans and fans of other teams for their support. The NFL is a fraternity of brothers and I am thankful for the tweets, phone calls and text messages from my fellow players. God Bless everyone and thank u so much."
"I should start off by saying I really appreciate all the support that I've been receiving from fans (and) the Vikings organization," Peterson said. "This is a private matter, and I would ask you all to please just respect my privacy and not ask at all about the situation at hand. Thanks."
At the time of the incident, Patterson was charged with aggravated felony assault and battery of an infant. However, those charges will be reviewed and additional charges are likely to come.
Our condolences go out to Peterson and his family after this heartbreaking tragedy.
