Ancelotti asks to leave PSG
May 19, 2013 2:27 PM EST
Paris Saint-Germain coach Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed his desire to leave the club in order to join Real Madrid.
Reports in France claim that the Italian met with PSG owner Nasser Al-Khelaifi on Sunday and expressed his wish to depart Parc des Princes.
The club's sporting director, Leonardo, also revealed that the former AC Milan boss had made his intentions clear, although PSG have yet to respond to his request and remain hopeful that they can convince him to stay.
The Ligue 1 champions have already confirmed that Madrid have made an approach for Ancelotti, who is the preferred candidate to replace Jose Mourinho amid rumours that he is set for a return to Chelsea in the Premier League.
"Carlo has asked to go to Madrid but we want him to stay on," Leonardo told L'Equipe. "No decision has been taken yet, we just listened to Carlo.
"We will look at the situation a little. The priority is still to keep him on. We have never contacted other coaches (while Ancelotti has been in charge)."
He added on RMC Sport: "Carlo Ancelotti has a contract and it is binding for both parties."
