Antrel Rolle is entering his fifth season with the New York Giants after spending his first five with the Arizona Cardinals. Rolle, a cornerback turned free safety, is known for big hits and speaking his mind. He is a three-time Pro Bowl selection (2009, 2010, 2013) and twice All-Pro (2010, 2013). On March 5, 2010, Rolle signed a five-year, $37 million contract with the Giants.
Early Years & College
Rolle was born in Homestead, Fla., on Dec. 16, 1982. He attended South Dade High where he was one of Florida’s best cornerbacks and return men. Rolle had 86 tackles and three interceptions as a senior in 2000, while hauling in four balls for 160 yards at receiver. After graduating, Rolle went to the University of Miami, picking up first-team All-Big East (2002) and first-team All-ACC accolades (2004). Regarded as a shutdown corner, Rolle was a consensus All-American as a senior when he recorded 58 tackles and six pass deflections.
The Cardinals selected Rolle in the first round of the 2005 NFL draft (eighth overall). Rolle missed most of 2005 after injuring his left knee, but he bounced back in 2006 and started 16 games at cornerback, notching one interception. Rolle announced his real arrival the following year, when he collected five interceptions, returning three of them for touchdowns. In five years in Arizona, Rolle had four interceptions and forced seven fumbles. He switched from cornerback to free safety in 2008.
New York Giants
Rolle was signed in free agency after the Cardinals released him in a money-saving move. Rolle, who became famous for being used in the Wildcat formation, instantly became one of the best – and highest-paid -- safeties in the NFL. He recorded 87 tackles in his first season in New York and qualified for the Pro Bowl. In five years in New York, Rolle has amassed 377 tackles, 11 interceptions and four forced fumbles.
