Newell's Old Boys remained top of the Argentina Primera Division thanks to a thumping 5-0 win over Union Santa Fe on Monday.
A brace from Maxi Rodriguez helped power the win, while Gabriel Heinze, Ignacio Scocco and substitute Maximiliano Urruti also got their names on the scoresheet.
The win helped the Old Boys stay three points clear of River Plate, and gave their goal difference a healthy boost to plus-17 - nine more than River Plate and seven better than third-placed Lanus.
River Plate, meanwhile, stayed in touch thanks to a 2-1 win over Independiente on Sunday, with goals from Juan Iturbe and Manuel Lanzini doing the damage for the winners.
With Lanus' match against Estudiantes postponed, San Lorenzo missed the chance to move into third place when they were held to a 1-1 draw by Argentinos Juniors.
In other Argentine top flight results over the weekend, San Martin de San Juan were 2-0 winners at Belgrano, Tigre defeated Godoy Cruz 1-0 away from home and Quilmes enjoyed a 2-1 victory at Arsenal.
Colon and Atletico Rafaela played out a 2-2 draw, while Racing Club posted a 2-0 win over Boca Juniors.
