Banega departs Valencia
Feb 01, 2014 12:47 PM EST
Valencia have confirmed midfielder Ever Banega will join Argentine Primera Division side Newell's Old Boys until the end of the season.
In one of transfer deadline day's later deals, the Argentina international returns to his homeland after falling out of favour at the Mestalla, having previously enjoyed a spell at Boca Juniors before his switch to Spain.
Premier League champions Manchester United were rumoured to be interested in securing a deal for the 25-year-old, but an offer failed to materialise.
The Spanish outfit also announced the signing of 20-year-old Brazilian striker Vinicius Araujo from Cruzeiro.
A statement on the club's official website read: "The club have loaned out Ever Banega to Atletico Newell's Old Boys through to June 30 this year.
On Araujo, the statement added: "The striker arrives at Valencia from Cruzeiro, one of the biggest teams in his homeland.
"He has scored 11 goals in 27 games for Cruzeiro, and has also won the Brazilian Under-20 Championship in 2012."
The deals completed a busy Friday for Juan Antonio Pizzi, following the free transfer of centre-back Philippe Senderos from Premier League strugglers Fulham.
