Bills CB Stephon Gilmore Fractures Wrist, Out 6-8 Weeks
By Adam Hurst
Buffalo Bills CB Stephon Gilmore has a fractured bone in his wrist and will miss 6-8 weeks, according to Fox Sports Mike Garafolo. Gilmore was injured in the first half of Buffalo’s preseason loss to the Washington Redskins on Saturday.
In addition to Gilmore, the Bills suffered injuries to QB Kevin Kolb, S Da’Norris Searcy and also received a scare from starting RB CJ Spiller, who grabbed his knee after running one in for a touchdown against the ‘Skins.
Gilmore was expected to be a bright spot in the Bills defensive plans this season, as he looked to build off a strong rookie campaign. The No. 10 overall pick in the 2012 draft, Gilmore led Buffalo in defensive snaps last season and proved to be a physical corner with above average coverage skills.
Head coach Doug Marrone confirmed that Gilmore’s wrist injury would require surgery. The Bills are set to face off against Tom Brady’s Patriots in Week 1 followed by Cam Newton’s Panthers in Week 2. With the loss of their top cornerback, the Bills can only hope someone will step up in Gilmore’s absence.
