Blake Countess is a cornerback for the University of Michigan Wolverines of the Big Ten Conference. Phil Steele named Countess a 2014 pre-season 1st Team All-Big Ten selection. He was named one of the top 100 prospects in the nation to watch for the 2015 NFL Draft by NFLDraftScout.com.
Countess attended Our Lady Of Good Counsel High School in Maryland and contributed on offense, defense and special teams. He was named to the U.S. Army All-American team and was a RivalsHigh.com second-team All-American selection on defense. Countess finished his high school career with two conference championships and 44 pass breakups.
Countess played right away at Michigan as a true freshman in 2011. He was named an ESPN.com and a BTN.com All-Freshman team selection. Countess finished second on the Wolverines with six pass breakups. He finished the season with 44 tackles while appearing in 12 games. He had a huge Sugar Bowl against Virginia Tech, finishing with eight tackles as Michigan prevailed.
In 2012 Countess suffered a season-ending knee injury in the first game of the season against the Alabama Crimson Tide. He would bounce back in a big way in 2013 as Countess earned a spot on the All-Big Ten first team as chosen by the media and the All-Big Ten second team as selected by the coaches. His six interceptions in 2013 were tied for first in the Big Ten and seventh in the nation. Countess finished the 2013 season with 46 tackles.
