Brandon Lloyd Does Not Intend To Play Football
The market for free agent WR Brandon Lloyd’s services has been practically non-existent ever since the New England Patriots released him back in March, and we may very well have seen the last of Lloyd in the NFL.
According to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports, Lloyd has no intention of playing football. Whether that means he’s just taking some time off or he intends to retire is left up for interpretation, but signs point to Lloyd hanging up his threads.
There are still plenty of wide receiver-needy teams out there, especially after all the injuries that have occurred over the last 2-3 months. However, there have been no reports or rumors of teams having any interest in Lloyd. Most reports regarding Lloyd seem to be teams denying any interest in signing the 32-year-old.
Lloyd has compiled 3,325 receiving yards and 20 touchdowns over the last three seasons, and he nearly topped 1,000 receiving yards per season — he fell slightly short with over 900 in each of the last two years — during that span. While Lloyd is likely still an effective receiver, perhaps his passion for the game is gone.
