Browns' Barkevious Mingo Cleared For Contact
Cleveland Browns rookie LB Barkevious Mingo has been medically cleared for contact after a bruised lung sidelined him for a few weeks, per ESPN’s Ed Werder.
While Mingo started practicing last week, the team has taken every precaution when dealing with his injury. He was taken to the hospital back in mid-August after sustaining a bruised lung against the Detroit Lions during a preseason game, and he’s been out of action ever since.
According to Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer, Browns coach Rob Chudzinzki said, “We'll get him out there in practice and see where he is,” while also adding that Mingo’s playing time will be determined by how he looks in practice.
Mingo, the sixth overall pick in the 2013 NFL Draft, was taken out of LSU to boost their pass rush, and it appears that he’s ready to finally make his debut in the NFL. He’s likely to come off the bench and support a defensive line coming off a strong performance last week against the Miami Dolphins. However, he’ll be going up against a much stronger Baltimore Ravens offense.
