Buccaneers S Dashon Goldson Suspended By NFL
The NFL is apparently getting tired of Dashon Goldson and his loose interpretations of the league’s rules. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the NFL is considering suspending Goldson for his helmet-to-helmet hit on New Orleans Saints RB Darren Sproles.
Since 2010, Goldson has drawn a league-leading 15 penalties. His repeated violations will likely play a role in determining his fine and whether or not it will cost him playing time.
Regardless of whether Goldson is hit with a ban or not, his wallet is definitely going to be a lot lighter whenever the NFL comes down with a decision. Goldson was hit with a $30,000 penalty for his hit on New York Jets TE Jeff Cumberland in Week 1, and there’s no doubt that he’s going to be hit with an even bigger fine. Although, any fine will be easier for Goldson to swallow after signing a five-year, $41.25 million contract with the Buccaneers in the offseason.
Update: Ian Rapoport of NFL.com reports that Goldson has been banned for one game for his hit on Sproles.
