Bio

Clark “C.J.” Brown is a quarterback for the University of Maryland Terrapins of the Big Ten Conference. He enters 2014 having been with the program since 2009.

High School

Brown attended Seneca Valley High School in Pennsylvania. Rivals.com ranked him as the 17th best duel-threat quarterback in the country. He set a school record with 3,845 career passing yards and 26 touchdowns through the air. Brown also starred in basketball in high school. His dad, Clark Sr., played football for Michigan State.

College

Brown redshirted at Maryland in 2009 and only appeared in one game in 2010 due to a shoulder injury. In 2011 Brown appeared in 10 games while earning five starts. He was the team leader in rushing touchdowns with five. Brown ran for 162 yards against Clemson, 124 yards against Georgia Tech and 110 yards against Wake Forest. His 574 rushing yards on the season were second on the team. He averaged 7.27 yards per carry, the best among all FBS quarterbacks that season. His first career touchdown pass came against Temple as he found Devonte Campbell for an 18-yard score.

His performance and leadership led him to being voted a team captain at the end of 2012 spring practice. However he tore his ACL during fall camp and missed all of 2012. Brown was granted a medical hardship.

Brown came back firing on all cylinders in 2013 as he was named the program’s offensive player of the year. He became the first Maryland player in program history to pass for more than 2,000 yards and run for more than 500 yards in a season. Brown started in 10 of 12 games and threw for 197 yards and two touchdowns against Marshall in the Military Bowl.
