Can Tottenham reach a Champions League position this season?
Aug 14, 2013 3:28 PM EST
A big question about the upcoming season is whether Tottenham can reach Champions League positions, and finally overtake Arsenal and Chelsea.
Spurs have signed Robert Saldado, Etienne Capoue, and Brazilian midfielder Paulinho. All of these players were expensive, and it is a statement of intent from the North London side. However, at the moment, rumours around Tottenham have been about star-man Gareth Bale, who has been strongly linked with Real Madrid for months.
Tottenham have progressed over the last few years, into a respected Champions League quality side, however have fallen at the last hurdle in the previous two seasons. Spurs fell one point short to rivals Arsenal in 4th position. Now, with the new signings, Tottenham have a fantastic chance of finishing in Champions League positions, however may not yet have the capacity to challenge for the title. But who knows, perhaps they will...
Rivals Arsenal have only made one signing so far this season, Yaya Sanago. Unless Arsenal splash out on some world class players this summer, then Tottenham seem set to swoop in and overtake the Gunners for the first time since 1995, when they finished 7th.
This should be a new era for Spurs, with Andre Villas-Boas behind the wheel, they are capable of winning silverware this season.
