Fox Sports’ Alex Marvez tweeted Tuesday that Arizona Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians announced that OLB Alex Okafor had suffered a torn biceps tendon and will miss the rest of the season.
It’s a tough break for the Cardinals who have now lost three outside linebackers to season ending injuries in just two days. They had previously lost Sam Acho to a broken fibula/ankle and Lorenzo Alexander because of a Lisfranc injury.
Okafor, a fourth-round rookie out of Texas, played only five snaps in Arizona’s Week 3 loss to New Orleans, but he was in for an increased role after the injuries suffered by Acho and Alexander.
Instead, the team will sign ILB Kenny Demens from the practice squad to take his place. Demens is an undrafted rookie out of Michigan who had originally made the 53-man roster this season. He was later relegated to the practice squad after the team made two waiver claims.
The loss of any one of the three would have hurt, but the loss of all three in such a short time span is a major blow.
