Cardinals S Rashad Johnson Lost Part Of Finger
No one is going to question Arizona Cardinals S Rashad Johnson’s toughness and ability to play through injury after hearing what he went through yesterday.
During a punt return, Johnson somehow lost the top of his left middle finger after tackling Darren Sproles. When he went to the sidelines to get it checked out, he took off his glove and discovered that his finger was actually still inside his glove, according to AZ Central’s Kent Somers.
Johnson had surgery on his finger, and doctors had to shave the bone on Johnson’s finger all the way down to the first knuckle. Due to the bone being exposed, there are concerns over infection.
@PaulPabst lost top portion of it. Had exposed bone and skin shaved down yesterday and stitched up. Prob most painful injury I’ve had.
His status for Week 4 is out of the question as he copes with the injury, and this rather unique injury has his timetable for a return up in the air. Rookie Tyrann Mathieu is likely to take his place in the lineup.
“I’m pretty sure we’re going to lose a couple guys, probably for the season,” coach Bruce Arians said during a postgame interview.
Lorenzo Alexander and Sam Acho were also injured, and surprisingly, it appears that of all three players to go down to injury yesterday, Johnson looks like the best bet to return.
