Cardinals Shopping RB Ryan Williams
By Adam Hurst
The Arizona Cardinals are testing the market on RB Ryan Williams, according to CBS Sports Jason La Canfora.
A second-round pick in the 2011 NFL Draft out of Virginia Tech, the once-promising prospect has had a lot of support from teammates and personnel in years past. However, with nagging injuries in the preseason and an inability to stay healthy to prove his value, Williams’ days in the desert appear to be numbered.
Williams missed three weeks of practice and didn’t appear in a game until this past Saturday against the Chargers. Head coach Bruce Arians had expressed frustration about Williams and his inability to take the field.
On Monday, the team will trim its roster from 90 to 75 players with player cuts. It appears that if Arizona doesn’t find a taker for Williams, then he may just as easily be cut from the team (the Cardinals aren’t exactly loaded in the backfield either).
Top back Rashard Mendenall is already banged up and coming off an injury-plagued season with the Steelers. Behind Mendenhall, Stepfan Taylor, Andre Ellington and Alfonso Smith are all relative question marks.
