Charles Tillman is a cornerback for the Chicago Bears. Tillman won the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award which highlights an NFL player’s commitment to charity, volunteer work as well as his exceptional play on the field.
Tillman was born on February 23, 1981 in Chicago Illinois. As the son of an army sergeant he traveled from place to place and went to several schools before graduating from Copperas Cove High School. He received All-State honors in Texas as a wide receiver. Tillman would commit to attending Louisiana-Lafayette.

In college Tillman developed his skills as a cornerback despite being a wide receiver in high school. He was known as an above average coverage cornerback. In 2000 he was ranked first in interceptions in the NCAA’s Independent Conference and seventh across the nation with six interceptions.
Tillman was drafted in the second round of the 2003 draft. He’s played his entire NFL career with the Chicago Bears. As a two-time Pro Bowler he ranks third in Bears’ history in career interceptions and sixth among active players with 36. Tillman has also been a solid tackling defensive back with 729 career tackles. He’s very active off the field and runs a variety of charitable events. His deeds have been recognized by his teammates, he was awarded the Ed Block Courage Award for exemplifying inspiration, courage and sportsmanship.
