It took a few weeks, but former Dallas Cowboys DT Jay Ratliff has found a new home. He signed a one-year deal with the Chicago Bears yesterday. The Kansas City Chiefs, Miami Dolphins and Cincinnati Bengals were all rumored to be potential landing spots.
Once Ratliff is ready to get back on the field, he should start at defensive tackle for the Bears. Chicago lost Henry Melton and Nate Collins to injury, and they’re defensive line has been depleted. The chance to start and play meaningful minutes right out of the gate likely factored heavily into his decision to choose the Bears over the Chiefs or Bengals.
Ratliff was released on Oct. 16 by the Cowboys. There were concerns that he wouldn’t play again this season, but he was medically cleared on Oct. 23, and he should be able to play within the next 2-4 weeks.
A former Pro Bowler, Ratliff should be able to immediately help a Bears defense that has struggled this season.
