When Kansas City Chiefs LT Branden Albert left Sunday’s contest against the Denver Broncos on a cart, it of course didn’t look good. According to Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk, it may not be as bad as it looked, though.
Albert, who went down with a knee injury, will undergo an MRI Monday to hopefully confirm these early reports.
The talented left tackle will be an unrestricted free agent in the offseason. With first overall pick Eric Fisher struggling in his rookie campaign, the Chiefs will have no choice but to franchise tag Albert if they can’t lock him up to a long-term deal.
With the Chiefs losing their third straight game after starting the season 9-0, they’ll need a miracle to win the division. The Broncos essentially have a two-game lead on the Chiefs in the standings (down one win to Denver plus the season sweep), so the Broncos will need to lose two more games than the Chiefs over the remainder of the season in order for Denver to fall out of first place.
