Christian Jones is a wide receiver for the Northwestern University Wildcats of the Big Ten Conference. He is a 2014 pre-season third team All-Big Ten selection by Phil Steele.
Jones attended Westfield High School in Texas where he was an ESPN.com four-star recruit. Rivals.com ranked Jones as the 69th best wide receiver in the nation. Jones tore his ACL in the spring of 2010 which impacted his ranking. He only played in a few games as a senior but had a big junior year with 37 catches for 812 yards and 12 touchdowns. Jones graduated in the top six percent of his class while also lettering in basketball and track.
Jones played right away at Northwestern as a true freshman in 2011. He tallied 16 receptions on the season for 195 yards. His biggest game came against Michigan as he finished with three receptions for 68 yards, including one catch that went for 39 yards.
In a run-heavy offense in 2012, Jones was the Wildcats’ leader in receiving yards with 412. He caught two touchdown passes as well. His first career touchdown came against Syracuse on a 14-yard catch. An Academic All-Big Ten selection Jones, recorded five catches in Northwestern’s first bowl win since 1949, a Gator Bowl victory over Mississippi State.
Jones once again led the Wildcats in receiving yards in 2013 with 668. He finished with four touchdown receptions, tied for first on the team. Jones’ biggest game of the season was his last, a dominant performance against Illinois. In that game he caught 13 passes for 182 yards and two touchdowns as the Wildcats prevailed 37-34.
