Arsenal Lands Alexis Sanchez From Barcelona

Jul 11, 2014 3:14 AM EST

Arsenal has made a massive move by landing former Barcelona forward Alexis Sanchez in one of the club's biggest moves in recent years.

Everyone knew that the 25-year-old was going to become a hot commodity after he had an outstanding World Cup in scoring two goals and assisting one for a Chile side that nearly ousted Brazil in the Round of 16.

While the financial details have yet to be made official, let's just say that Sanchez is being paid a rather decent amount of money from the Premier League side.

Right now, 30 million pounds seems to be the rumored number for the Chile star's services.

Give Arsene Wenger and company credit for going out and making an immediate splash by signing a player that clearly has his best years in front of him.

Oh, and it doesn't hurt that Sanchez was in top form this summer in Brazil. Chile managed to finish second in Group B behind the Netherlands thanks to his ability to do just about everything for his team on the pitch.

Think Wenger will have trouble finding a place for a player like that? Probably not.

It also seems as though Wenger will have another talented player heading to the Emirates as it sounds like a deal with Newcastle defender Mathieu Debuchy will be on the way soon enough.

The Gunners could feel the title in their grasp last season, but they simply couldn't find ways to make the plays that they needed to hang on to the Premier League lead.

Now, with a player like Sanchez at Wenger's disposal, Arsenal is certainly a club trending upward. Players like Sanchez don't come around often, and any time that you land a young stud with all the potential in the world, your team instantly becomes better.

The only way that Arsenal can return to dominance in the Premier League is to continually improve in areas of need.

Signing Sanchez is a huge step in Arsenal's attempt to regain its past glory.
