Sami Khedira Set to Join Arsenal

After drawing initial interest from Chelsea, it seems as though Germany and Real Madrid midfielder Sami Khedira is ultimately on his way to the Emirates.

According to multiple reports, Khedira is set to leave Real Madrid for Arsenal, with the move expected to be announced soon rather than later.

Many thought that Chelsea would find a way to steal Khedira because of the link with Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho -- who was at Real Madrid -- but instead it looks like Arsenal will win the bidding war for the 27-year-old.

Khedira was without question one of the most consistent players on the German side at this year's World Cup, but was he replaced by Christoph Kramer in the starting lineup in yesterday's final against Argentina due to a late injury in warm-ups.

As for what this means for Arsenal, it's obvious that Arsene Wenger has quite the plan in place.

The Gunners have already brought in former Barcelona star Alexis Sanchez to help with the attack, and now the addition of Khedira only makes this team better.

The midfield was one of the areas that Wenger needed to address during this transfer period, and sure enough, he has with this particular move.

Wenger was highly criticized after his lack of moves last summer, but this time around, he clearly has more of a structured plan in terms of what exactly he's looking to add to his squad. And after letting the Premier League title slip away last season, it's a good thing that he does.

There's no doubt that Wenger likely has more moves up his sleeve in this transfer window, as there are still certain areas that need to be addressed.

If the recent signings are any indication of the signing trend going forward, Arsenal should be in fantastic shape heading into next season.
