The San Francisco 49ers and Seattle Seahawks face off next week for a shot to go to the Super Bowl. If not for playing in the same conference—and the same division—you could make an argument that both teams may be the top two in the NFL.
I think this is clearly the best rivalry in the league right now. These two teams despise each other and because they play so often, they know each other very well.
But how does this rivalry stack up in history? There have been some classic clashes, from the Cowboys and Redskins to the Eagles and Giants to the Patriots and Jets to the Steelers and Browns.
But do any of those grudge matches have the nastiness and personnel quality that the current 49ers-Seahawks feud has?
