Cordarrelle Patterson is a wide receiver for the Minnesota Vikings. He tied an NFL record for the longest scoring play in history with a 109-yard kick return against the Green Bay Packers in 2013.

Early Life

Patterson was born on March 17, 1991 in Rock Hill, South Carolina. His football talent was recognized at Hutchinson Community College in Kansas, he was a two-time NJCAA All-American. In 2012, he was ranked as the highest JUCO player in the country by 247Sports.com. He chose to play Division I football at Tennessee.

Tennessee Volunteers

Patterson played one year at Tennessee and left his mark as a wide receiver, kick returner and all-purpose back within Tennessee’s offense. He had 1,086 total yards from scrimmage with 8 touchdowns showing his versatility lining up all over the field. He also led the Southeastern Conference as a kick return specialist with 671 yards.

Minnesota Vikings

Patterson was the 29th overall pick in the2013 NFL draft. His impact on the Vikings special teams was significant in his rookie year. Patterson’s first touchdown was a 105-yard kickoff return. He has also shown versatility as the first NFL player to return a kick 100 yards, catch a touchdown pass for 75 yards and rush 50 yards for a touchdown in one game. His agility and explosiveness in open space helped him earn Pro Bowl honors on special teams as a rookie.
