Coupe de France Preview: Bordeaux v Evian

Evian will contest their first ever Coupe de France final when they take on three-time champions Bordeaux on Friday.

Francis Gillot's men secured their place in the showpiece with a 2-1 victory over Troyes in the last four earlier in May, which came courtesy of a Cheick Diabete strike and Jeremie Brechet's own goal.

The club have endured something of a disappointing season in Ligue 1, having finished in seventh position, 22 points short of UEFA Champions League qualification.
Therefore, there is extra emphasis on bringing home silverware in the Coupe de France.

Bordeaux have previously won the competition on three occasions, but have not featured in the final since beating Marseille in both the 1986 and 1987 editions.
Evian, meanwhile, romped into the final with a 4-0 demolition of Lorient.

First-half goals from Milos Ninkovic, Yannick Sagbo and Kevin Berigaud put Evian into a commanding half-time lead, with Nadjib Baouia completing the rout in the second period.

Victory in the cup would cap a successful end to the season for Pascal Dupraz' side, after they ensured Ligue 1 safety by finishing in 16th position, two points clear of Nancy.
It will be a tough ask, however, with Evian having lost to Bordeaux twice in the league this season, including a 2-1 away defeat on the final day.
