Coupe de la Ligue: St Etienne 0 PSG 0 (5-3 pens)

Thiago Silva missed from the spot as PSG bowed out of the Coupe de la Ligue on penalties to Saint-Etienne on Tuesday.
Carlo Ancelotti's side lost out 5-3 on penalties after extra-time ended 0-0, with Brazilian Silva missing the crucial spot kick at the Stade Geoffroy-Guichard.
What promised to be an exciting quarter-final tie proved to be tactical and tight, with the best opportunities falling to PSG's star marksman Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who was twice denied by the inspired Stephane Ruffier in Etienne's goal.
The Swede had a handful of other opportunities but did not manage to beat Ruffier until the shootout.
At the other end of the field, PSG’s second-string goalkeeper Nicolas Douchez was relatively untroubled.
Romain Hamouma was a sporadic threat for the home side but failed to find the target with a couple of long-range shots, while the closest top-scorer Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang would come was a header cleared off the line by Clement Chantome.
Extra-time provided Ibrahimovic with a glorious chance following a dreadful back pass, but Ruffier showed terrific bravery to smother the ball at the striker's feet.
Ruffier stood up again in the shootout to block Silva's shot and was justly awarded man-of-the-match honours as Saint-Etienne defeated PSG for the second time in a month.
