D.J. Fluker is an offensive tackle for the San Diego Chargers. Before joining the Chargers in 2013, he played for two BCS National Title teams at the University of Alabama and was named a First-Team All-American as a junior in 2012.
Fluker was born in New Orleans, LA on March 13, 1991. His family left New Orleans during the final hours before Hurricane Katrina ravaged the city, moving to Biloxi, MS and eventually setting up permanent residence in Mobile, AL. He attended McGill-Toolen High School as a freshman and sophomore before moving back to Biloxi as a junior. He considered quitting football prior to his senior year, but his family once again moved back to Alabama, and he played offensive line at Foley High School. He excelled at the position, earning All-American honors and receiving an invite to the 2009 U.S. Army All-American Bowl.
University of Alabama
Despite growing up supporting the LSU Tigers, Fluker signed a letter of intent to play football at the University of Alabama. He redshirted his first season on campus in 2009 before becoming a starter at right tackle the following season. During the next two seasons, he started every game for the Crimson Tide and helped the program win back-to-back BCS National Championships. Following the 2012 season, he was named First-Team All-Southeastern Conference and also earned All-American honors. Even though he was listed as a junior, he had graduated in four years and participated in the 2013 Senior Bowl.
San Diego Chargers
Fluker was selected by the San Diego Chargers with the 11th overall pick in the 2013 NFL Draft. As a rookie, he started 15 games, seeing time at both left and right tackle for the Chargers.
