Danny Amendola Expected To Sit Out Week 2
By Allen Kim
Danny Amendola is expected to miss the New England Patriots’ Week 2 matchup against the division-rival New York Jets on Thursday night, per Ian Rapoport of NFL.com.
While his colleague, Albert Breer, reported that the Patriots are still evaluating Amendola’s groin injury and there’s “no final word on severity yet,” Rapoport says that he’s “almost certain” to miss the game.
Amendola’s groin injury occurred in the first half against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday, but he returned later in the game and helped the team win 23-21. He was applauded for gutting it out while injured, and he made a key catch on the team's game-winning drive.
On short rest playing on Thursday night, the Patriots aren’t even practicing for the game against Rex Ryan and company. The team announced that they’re doing a walkthrough today, which means they’re going to skip practice this week.
The Patriots are hurting with Shane Vereen out after undergoing wrist surgery, Zach Sudfield’s hamstring bothering him and Rob Gronkowski still waiting for clearance to play. However, they luckily get the woeful Jets next on the schedule, and they should have little trouble disposing of them this Thursday.
