Darrelle Revis Meets Coach Schiano To Clear Air
By Allen Kim
Andrea Kremer of the NFL Network reported that Darrelle Revis met with Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Greg Schiano yesterday for about 15 minutes “to clear air.” He said that he has no issues with Schiano or any complaints with the way he is being used in pass coverage. His frustration stems from the team being 0-2 after a pair of tough, close losses.
Mike Garafolo of FOX Sports reported that Revis was unhappy with Schiano’s coaching style and the lack of man-to-man coverage on defense. This set off a storm of questions over coach Schiano and his control over the locker room following the rumors of the tension brewing between him and QB Josh Freeman.
Revis tweeted out his support for the team yesterday in order to refute the reports of his unhappiness.
“What's going on Buc fans. Just to clear the smoke. I'm happy to be a Buccaneer & I'm happy to be a resident of Tampa.” - @Revis24
“I'm excited for this year & I'm excited about this team as we move forward to prepare each week to get a W!!!” - @Revis24
For now, it appears that Schiano and the Buccaneers have averted a potential crisis. It’s crucial for Schiano to have the support of arguably the team’s best player, and this could go a long way in stabilizing their locker room.
