Walker was born on August 12, 1984 in Pomona, California. At Pomona High School, Walker was named the Miramonte League offensive Player of the Year twice. As a senior, he was named first-team All-Region, all-division and All-San Gabriel Valley.
After high school, Walker was set to go to Texas-El Paso, but decided to go to Mount San Antonio Community College due to his academics. In his first season there, he caught 50 passes for 699 yards and eight TDs.
UNIVERSITY OF CENTRAL MISSOURI
Walker enrolled in Central Missouri in 2004 before his junior year. His unique size and speed allowed the team to use Walker in a variety of ways. As a senior, he led the team with 65 receptions for 724 yards and six TDs. He also rushed for the ball for 57 yards and a TDs and had 435 kick return yards and a TD. He earned All-MIAA first-team honors.
SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS
Walker was drafted in the sixth round (175th-overall) by the 49ers in the 2006 NFL Draft.
Walker had been used by the team at numerous positions, including wide receiver, fullback, and tight end. He was most effective at tight end, even though he had spent most of the time playing behind Pro-Bowler Vernon Davis. In seven seasons with San Francisco, Walker caught 123 passes for 1,456 yards and eight TDs.
Walker signed a multi-year contract with the Titans on March 12, 2013.
In his first season with the team, Walker set career-highs in receptions (60), receiving yards (571) and receiving TDs (6).
