In his first year as a starter, Malone earned All-Pac-12 honorable mention honors as an inside linebacker. The redshirt senior led the team in tackles in 2013 with 105 (45 solo) and is a three-time academic all-conference honorable mention honoree.

Had 44 tackles, two interceptions, 17 pass deflections and three fumble recoveries on defense while adding 1,501 yards and 19 touchdowns on the ground for the offense. A three star recruit out of high school, he was ranked the No. 41 safety in the nation by Scout.com, but moved to linebacker when he attended Oregon.
Redshirted the 2010 season before appearing in all 14 games of the 2011 season. Malone had 15 tackles during his redshirt freshman season, including a season high three stops against Nevada. In 2012, he started one of the 12 games he played in, but ranked eighth on the team in tackles with 41. In 2013, Malone grabbed one of the vacated linebacker spots and never looked back, recording a pair of sacks and 2.5 tackles for loss to go along with his tackle total.
