Bio

Coming off being voted the Big 12’s Defensive Freshman of the Year in 2012, plenty was expected of Devonte Fields heading into the 2013 season with the TCU Horned Frogs. Unfortunately, injuries would limit the 6-4, 250-pound defensive end to three games and four tackles. One of the most athletic defensive ends in the conference, Fields brings speed, wingspan and an aggressive style to fold, making him a defensive player who regularly plays on the offensive side of the football. Healthy again, Fields will be looking for Big 12 and national honors once again as he makes the kind of impact that keeps offenses on edge in 2014.

High School

Coming out of Arlington Martin High School in Fort Worth, Texas, Fields was ranked as the 171st best prospect in the nation and the 12th best defensive end. He participated in the Under Armour All-American Game and received several All-American honors along the way. After his senior season, he was named the District 4-5A Defensive Player of the Year and made the AP 5A all-state team after recording 73 tackles, 13 sacks and two interceptions his senior year.

College

Stepped right in and made an immediate impression for the Horned Frogs. Started all 13 games of his freshman season and ended up being named the AP Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year and Defensive Newcomer of the Year after registering 53 tackles, 18.5 tackles for loss and 10 sacks. For his efforts, he was also a first-team all-Big 12 selection and made several freshman All-American teams.
