Bio

Dwayne Bowe plays wide receiver for the Kansas City Chiefs. During his seven-year career, he has earned Second-Team All-Pro recognition once and made the Pro Bowl in 2010.

Early Years

Bowe was born on September 21, 1984 in Miami, FL and attended Miami Norland High School. He did not participate in sports until his junior year at the school, but he decided to join the football team after being beaten badly at a nightclub fight. He returned a kickoff over 100 yards for a touchdown during his first game and eventually received a scholarship offer to play at Louisiana State University.

Louisiana State University

Bowe enrolled at LSU prior to the 2003 season and saw action in 13 games as a backup receiver for the Tigers 2003 BCS National Championship team. He became a full-time starter as a sophomore, finishing second on the team in receptions, and then set a school-record with a touchdown reception in seven consecutive games for LSU as a junior. He capped off a strong college career by breaking the school record with 12 touchdown receptions as a senior in 2006 and finished with 65 receptions for 990 receiving yards.

Kansas City Chiefs

Following graduation at LSU, Bowe was selected with the 23rd overall pick in the 2007 NFL Draft by the Kansas City Chiefs. He signed a five-year deal after holding out the first week of training camp and led all rookie receivers with 70 receptions, 995 receiving yards, and six touchdowns. He finished fourth in the NFL with 86 receptions in 2008 and surpassed the 1,000 yard mark for the first time in his career.

Bowe missed four games in 2009 following a suspension for testing positive for a diuretic, but he bounced back to break Kansas City’s single-season record with 15 touchdown receptions in 2010. He was named Second-Team All-Pro and voted to his first Pro Bowl that season. After finishing with 1,159 receiving yards in 2011 and struggling in 2012, he signed a new five-year contract to stay with the Chiefs.
