Lacy was born on June 2, 1990 in Gretna Louisiana. He attended Dutchtown High School and was recognized by the Louisiana Sports Writers Association as a First-team caliber player. He was rated as the 13th best running back by Rivals.com across the nation within the 2009 recruiting class. He committed to attend the University of Alabama after high school.
Alabama Crimson Tide
Lacy was the third-string running back in Alabama and had to make his presence felt behind Mark Ingram who won the Heisman Trophy the previous year and Trent Richardson. Lacy still managed to score six touchdowns with an average 7.1 yards per carry in limited duty. In his junior season he shared the workload with Richardson and finished with similar numbers. In 2012, Lacy was the starting running back and he answered the challenge of becoming the lead man in the backfield. He accumulated 1,322 yards with 17 touchdowns in his senior year leading Alabama to another BCS National Title.
Green Bay Packers
The Green Bay Packers drafted Lacy in the second round to achieve much needed balance on offense. In 2012, the Packers leading rusher was Alex Green with 464 yards. Lacy stepped into the starting lineup and fulfilled the void at running back. He only missed one game as a starter due to a concussion and finished the season with 1,178 rushing yards as the NFL’s eighth leading ball carrier. He also received Pro Bowl honors.
