Foles Expected To Start In Place Of Michael Vick
According to Howard Eskin of Fox Philadelphia, Michael Vick is not expected to play next week when the Philadelphia Eagles suit up against the winless Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and he could also be out for Week 7, too. ESPN’s Adam Schefter confirmed the news today.
Vick pulled his hamstring while scrambling out of bounds after a broken play against the New York Giants, but he stayed in for a few more plays. However, he was clearly affected by the injury, and he wasn’t moving well in the pocket. He was seen limping on the sideline, and he was holding his hamstring gingerly.
“I'm just running by myself, just running out of bounds,” Vick said after the game. “I tried to slow down. I think I just took the wrong step.”
Coach Chip Kelly eventually pulled Vick and replaced him with Nick Foles. Foles played well in Vick’s place, and he’s most likely going to get the call next week and the week after if Vick still has to sit out.
With their victory over the Giants, the Eagles are now tied with the Cowboys. If Foles is able to play well enough to keep them on pace for the lead in the NFC East, Vick’s injury should only serve as a minor setback.
