Former Notre Dame quarterback Everett Golson will be readmitted to the university Dec. 13, coach Brian Kelly said Tuesday.
Golson, who led the Fighting Irish to the national championship game last season as a redshirt freshman, was dismissed for the fall semester in May after demonstrating "poor academic judgment."
"I've been assured that based upon all of the information that has been provided that he's going to be readmitted on Dec. 13, and that information has been provided to admissions," Kelly told ESPN.com. "It's just a matter of them sending out the admittance letter and then being back on campus sometime around the 15th of December."
Golson will not be able to prepare for or travel to Notre Dame's bowl game with the team this season, but he will have redshirt junior status next fall. He finished his redshirt freshman season with 2,405 yards, 12 touchdowns, six interceptions and a 131.0 quarterback rating.
The Irish (8-4) replaced Golson with Tommy Rees this season. Rees has totaled 2,938 yards, 27 touchdowns and 13 interceptions for the Irish.
